Utah-based DPS Skis made headlines last year with its DPS Revive program, where skiers could send their used DPS skis back to the company to be recycled for credit towards a new pair of DPS skis. DPS then refurbished the used skis and put them up for sale, at an enormous discount. The program aims to cut down on waste in the ski industry and help skiers cut costs upgrading their gear.
DPS recently announced the Revive Program is expanding and will now accept used skis from other brands and issue credit that can be used for new DPS skis. Through a partnership with GearTrade, the company will restore and resell skis from other brands, like it has already been doing with its own skis. Though DPS actually stands for “Drake PowderworkS,” many skiers jokingly say the acronym stands for “Deep Pocket Skis.” The carbon fiber based Pagoda touring ski will run you roughly $1,500 for a new pair, but right now the DPS Revive program has some available for less than $600. Now, that pair of carving skis that haven’t made it out of the garage yet may help upgrade your touring setup or powder boards for this season.

The conditions are that skis from other brands have to be newer than 2018 and can’t have been mounted more than twice. Credits range from 30% MSRP for unmounted, pristine skis, to 10-15% for well-used skis. After DPS receives the skis and inspects them, they will make a determination of the condition and issue a credit.
The DPS Revive Program comes in the context of other reuse and recycling programs in the outdoor industry. Flylow’s Leftover Land program offers a similar used gear for store credit exchange, and Patagonia offers a used gear trade-in program, in addition to an extensive repair program.
