Weather.com Winter 2022/23 Forecast: Northern States to Expect Colder Than Normal Winter

Weather.com has joined the long list of sites trying to predict the upcoming winter. The only thing they all agree on—we’re in for a third consecutive La Niña winter.

• A generally colder than usual winter is expected in the northern tier of states.
• Meanwhile, the southern U.S. is expected to have a warmer-than-usual winter.
• La Niña is expected to be the main driver for the third winter in a row.
• But if it weakens, that could spell a colder winter for some.
• As usual, the polar vortex is another important wild card in the outlook.
