Snowmass, Colorado, is heading into the 2026-27 winter season with a rebuilt mid-mountain restaurant, renovated lodging, new community programming, expanded Ikon Pass access, and another chapter in the area’s remarkable Ice Age discoveries.

Snowmass Tourism announced the updates in a press release, highlighting changes coming to both Snowmass Ski Area and the surrounding village. “Snowmass is entering the 2026-27 winter season with an exciting mix of new experiences, beloved traditions, and major milestones,” Julia Theisen, tourism director for Snowmass Tourism, said in the press release. “From the mountain and village to the next chapter of the Ziegler discovery, there’s a lot to look forward to in Snowmass this winter and beyond.”

Here is what skiers and visitors can expect this winter.

Snowmass Ski Area

One of the biggest changes on the mountain will be the return of Ullrhof. The popular mid-mountain restaurant has been undergoing a complete rebuild since summer 2025 and is scheduled to reopen for the 2026-27 season. The new restaurant will feature seating for more than 600 people, along with a new bar and lounge area. It will also become Aspen Snowmass’ first fully electric restaurant. “This project is part of a multi-year initiative to elevate guest dining experiences at Snowmass and add restaurant seating across the mountain,” the press release states.

Snowmass will also have a new pass option this winter as it joins the Ikon Base Pass, giving eligible passholders five days at Snowmass, subject to select blackout dates. The benefit applies only to Snowmass and does not include Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, or Buttermilk.

Snowmass Ice Age Discovery

The story of Snowmass’ Ice Age discoveries will continue into 2027. The Town of Snowmass Village, Snowmass Water & Sanitation District, and Denver Museum of Nature & Science are planning another excavation at Ziegler Reservoir next summer as the reservoir expands by 40 million gallons. The site became internationally known after the 2010 discovery uncovered more than 6,000 large animal bones and 30,000 small animal bones, along with plant and insect remains dating back roughly 85,000 years.

The 2027 project will focus on ancient soils, with researchers looking for preserved proteins and environmental DNA that could provide new insight into how plants, animals, and climate changed over thousands of years. Visitors can learn more this winter through guided Ice Age Explorer Tours and a self-guided Ice Age Passport Walk.

Stonebridge Inn Reopens

The Stonebridge Inn is preparing to welcome guests again this December following a $15.7 million renovation.

The 93-room property originally opened shortly after Snowmass welcomed its first guests in 1967. Managed by CoralTree Hospitality, the hotel has undergone what the press release describes as a “top-to-bottom transformation.” The reopening is scheduled for the 2026-27 winter season.

Timberline Condominiums Renovation Complete

Timberline Condominiums has completed the final phase of a $25 million, multi-year renovation project.

The work included exterior renovations, new siding and architectural finishes, refreshed common areas, infrastructure improvements, and upgrades to guest amenities.

“The project allows The Timberline to carry forward its legacy as a cherished ski-in/ski-out destination and timeless mountain retreat in Snowmass Village,” the press release states.

The Collective Snowmass

The Collective Snowmass will remain one of the village’s main community gathering spaces, with several new programs joining its winter schedule.

New offerings include:

  • Collective Conversations: Community members will share presentations about subjects they are passionate about.
  • Community Lunch & Learn Workshops: Local speakers will lead sessions during the lunch hour.
  • New wellness programs: Offerings include sound healing, Tarot readings, breathwork, and New Moon events.
  • Sunday Social Club: Rotating game nights, craft workshops, and other activities.
  • Toddler Time: Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon for families with children under 5. The Game Lounge program is free.

Returning programs include karaoke with DJ Tenza, Chess Club, Bingo Nights, ACES Wild Perspectives, Mahjong Nights, On the Rise Open Mics, Two Step dancing, Teen Nights, and Storytime.

More Flights to Aspen

Getting to Snowmass will also become easier for some travelers this winter. American Airlines is adding daily service between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Aspen beginning December 17, 2026. The new route supplements American’s existing service to Aspen from Dallas Fort Worth, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Austin.

American will operate alongside United, Delta, and Aero, which will also provide service to Aspen throughout the winter season.

With the Ullrhof reopening, major lodging renovations complete, expanded Ikon Base Pass access, new village programming, and the next phase of the Ice Age project on the horizon, Snowmass enters the 2026-27 season with changes on and off the mountain.
