With over 20cm of new snow and more on its way this weekend, Whistler Blackcomb is having an unreal start to March.  Today was another awesome day with fresh snow and most of the mountain opening up.  Last night it snowed all the way down to the valley making the lower mountain areas fun until they finished avalanche control on the upper lifts.  Throughout the day though the temperatures were definitely warming up.

harmony
Harmony seemed to hold good light through most of the afternoon and really good snow.

Peak chair opened around 11am and was awesome.  We stuck around there most of the day because the snow and hits were so fresh and fun.  I started by lapping the frontside until it got more tracked out.  Then went and skied some laps down through Doom and Gloom to Red Chair.  The snow stayed good all day down to Red and was fairly untracked even in the afternoon.

backflip
Snow was definitely deep enough to get a bit sendy on the resort today.

The light was fairly in and out all day.  The top of Peak chair seemed to stay in a cloud all day, but once you were half way down the visibility got a lot better.  In the afternoon Harmony seemed to have a sunny section above it, so we headed that way for a few runs and found good snow.

Fresh turns right underneath Harmony chair.

In the backcountry, things are still very touchy and with these warming temperatures coming things are going to get heavy and more reactive.  Be safe out there and choose slopes conservatively.  Enjoy the new snow we are getting!
