Whistler Heli-Ski Guide Died in Avalanche While Guiding on Wednesday

Whistler heli-ski guide Lisa Korthals died in an avalanche while guiding on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 in the Whistler backcountry just outside the ski area’s boundaries. 

According to the Coroner’s Service, Lisa was killed when an avalanche trapped her at about 3pm on Thursday in the South Creek zone of Whistler Blackcomb’s heli tenure near Pemberton.

Lisa was located by search and rescue crews, given first aid, then taken to the Whistler Medical Clinic where she was pronounced dead at 4:30pm on Thursday.
No one else on this tour was injured.

  1. Just a correction, you said she was trapped and died on Thursday at 3 pm but she died on Wednesday afternoon.
