Have you ever had the dream of owning your own ski resort? If you answered yes, today might just be your lucky day.

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin’s historic Majestic Mountain Ski Hill recently hit the market at a price point of $5.75 million. Lake Geneva News reported that the property was purchased by a Chicago builder named Martin Murphy back in 2020. Murphy bought the property with the intention of developing a family compound equipped with amenities such as communal fire pits, tennis courts, and swimming pools.

However, the resort’s property value has risen exponentially since 2020. Due to the increase in value, Murphy is now looking to sell the property and turn a profit.

Majestic Mountain Ski Hill used to be a diamond-in-the-rough for midwest skiers. Located just outside of Lake Geneva in Lynn, WI, the resort looks over the breathtaking Geneva Lake. In the 1970s and 80s, the resort was known for its groomed runs, shops and restaurants, and a quite lively apres ski scene. Skiers used to flock to the resort to enjoy live music performances at The Majestic Bandstand. This used to be a music venue that secured performers such as The Beach Boys, The Who, Stevie Wonder, and more.

Unfortunately, the Majestic Mountain Ski Hill burned down in a fire in 1988. Many parts of the resort were uninsured, causing the resort to abruptly close. Since then, the resort has sat virtually untouched.

Murphy is looking for a buyer to make this property usable again. Murphy’s wife and real-estate agent, Wendy Murphy, shared her admiration for the property with Lake Geneva News.

“This property has the ultimate view and can entertain the family year-round. It’s a one-of-a-kind property with so much potential.”

With the property back on the market, anyone now has the opportunity to revive the resort for skiers living in the midwest. You can find out more about purchasing the property on realtor.com.

  1. I can’t believe this land has never been developed! With all the tourists that come to Lake Geneva every year, I would think someone would have rebuilt it many years ago!
