“People keep telling me to put him [shane’s dog] on a leash. What? I’ll put you on a leash.” – Shane McConkey
“Jim Shane, the guy who started the Goldminers Daughter at the base of Alta. That’s who I’m named after, Jim Shane. James Shane, that’s my name.” – Shane McConkey
I don’t get star struck easily, but seeing Shane and Jeremy Jones together in the same room hanging out is awesome. Two snow legends living in the same small valley in California hanging out under the same roof just livin’ life.
It’s very interesting to watch this video and see a more candid side of Shane and his family and friends. There is so much to learn from Shane’s life and I know we’ve only seen the tip of the proverbial iceberg. This short film shows us a deeper side of Shane and I know that the coming McConkey Movie is going to show us a whole other world.
Everything in this video feels even more intense knowing that Shane passed away only a week after the filming of this video. Thanks Shane.
“Filmed a week before Shane passed, this short documentary is a tribute to a man that continues to inspire and influence the world of action sports.” – The Ski Channel
This made me sad. The whole binding release procedure I felt wasn’t fool proof when I first saw it. Bad things that can happen always find the loop- hole eventually.
RIP Shane
Nice write up Miles!
