The High Traverse at Alpine Meadows, CA opened today for the first time since the huge 85โณ storm set in over a week ago.
It was good.
video of one run in the Munchkins today
I got up late and exhausted, showed up late to Alpine, staggered up to Summit chair at 9:40pm-ish, rode up with new ski boots killing me, got to the top, and watched patrol flip the signs on the High T right before my eyes.
Lazy bird gets the worm!

We charged straight out and got a lap near the boundary line that was simply amazing. The snow was perfect. Blower snow on top, dense snow beneath. Spongy as all get out. You could load up your skis today then release them on a pillow or rollover and the snow would shoot you out screaming into the next turn.

We did another lap just out of bounds off the High T that was pillowy and รผber fun, especially down low in the trees.
We did one last lap out in the Munchkins and that place is filled in. The options in there are big, scary, and deep right now.

I was out with an A+ crew today and we were all a-smile. Iโd like to give a shout out to two of my favorite people to ski with: Chuck Patterson and Jason Dobbs. Thanks for making today hilarious, techy, and fun.
I was honored to shoot with the legendary Tony Harrington today. Thanks a ton, Tony.
I guess miles did not go to Japan so Japan conditions came to miles
1) Twin Peaks Bowl looks nice.
2) Holy f*** is that house full of snow on the *inside*?
