NOAA & the Northwest Avalanche Center have issued an Avalanche Warning for Washington today.
“Heads up! Weโve issued an avalanche warning for all West Slope zones along with Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes. Weโre expecting a warming trend and significant precip (read: rain); all on top of several known weak layers. This storm should produce large natural avalanches on most aspects and elevations.

Heavy snow then rain and strong wind has lead to lots of avalanches today.
AVALANCHE DANGER... THE AVALANCHE DANGER WILL BE HIGH THURSDAY AND BACKCOUNTRY TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED. AVOID ALL AVALANCHE TERRAIN. REASON... HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL BE FOLLOWED BY RAINFALL AND STRONG WINDS...LEADING TO NATURAL AVALANCES ON THURSDAY.
