Ever chased a storm across state lines?
One of our favorite, old school moves is chasing a storm to Tahoe to Utah.ย Specifically from Squaw/Alpine, CA to Alta/Snowbird, UT.ย If you’ve never done this, it’s time…
The best way to make this move?ย The Mountain Collective pass.
Theย Mountain Collective gives you the ability to choose from 16 world class destinations at short notice and follow the snow – including Squaw/Alpine and Alta/Snowbird.
If Colorado is getting slammed you can head to Aspen Snowmass and Telluride. If Canada is getting dumped on you have access to Banff, Lake Louise, and Revelstoke.ย Hmmmm….ย Revelstoke…
But what about following a storm across four world-class destinations over two days.
Is that even possible?
With the Mountain Collective, anything is possible…
If you ski only 4 days, this pass has already paid for itself.
Picture this:ย Squaw/Alpine and Alta/Snowbird both have stellar snow forecasts.ย Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is going to get hit first. As a Mountain Collective pass holder, you can ski Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows the same day, shredding them whilst itโs dumping, free refills all day.
At the end of a hard day of incredible powder skiing, you want more. Luckily the storm isnโt letting up and is continuing to head East towards Utah, and Alta and Snowbird. And guess what? Both these resorts are on your Mountain Collective pass.
Straight off the mountain in Tahoe, into your car, and head East on I-80, through Nevada, and you’ll be in Utah in eight hours.ย This still leaves plenty of time for sleeping (or partying!) before the storm catches up with you and youโre riding in knee deep powder for the second consecutive day, at Alta and Snowbird, the โPowder Capitals of the Worldโ.
And this summer it got even better. The Nevada Department of Transportation replaced the 75 mph speed limit signs on I-80 with new ones that allow speeds of 80 mph. You can now (legally) make it from California to Utah even quicker than last winter and ensure you donโt miss a minute of powder skiing.
And if skiing during a storm isnโt for you, we recommend you just hang back 24 hours and ski Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows the day after a storm in beautiful bluebird conditions. You’ll still be finding untracked powder.ย And then drive the eight hours to Utah where Alta and Snowbird also got hit by the same storm. I guarantee youโll be finding powder stashes and awesome photo opportunities all day long.
So whether you like to ski the snow during the storm, or you take your powder with sunshine, the Mountain Collective enables you to ski four world-class destinations in two days.
Four resorts, two days, and the pass has paid for itself.
And donโt forget the Mountain Collective gives you two whole days at each resort, so whilst in Utah stay andย ski the second day (having used your Mountain Collective pass to get a great deal on accommodation) and then head back to Tahoe, 80 on 80, and ski Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows again the next day.
