NOAA is forecasting a 30% chance of snow in Lake Tahoe, CA/NV today.
Less than an inch is forecast to fall, but it’s gonna be cold and it’s enough to get the stoke flowing.
The snow level is forecast to drop as low as 7,000-feet today.
Graupel could occur with some of the stronger showers in
lower elevations, while near the Sierra some snow may be seen down
to near 7000 feet near Tahoe, between 7500-8500 feet for Alpine-
Mono Counties, and near 6500 feet in northeast CA. Snow is
unlikely to accumulate on roads, but if a persistent shower band
sets up over any of the highest passes, brief periods of slick or
slushy conditions could occur. - NOAA Reno, NV today
The top of Mt. Rose ski resort is only 27ยบF right now (9:30am PST). ย
Truckee is forecast to drop as low as 22ยบF Fridayย morning.
“Much Colder Thursday and Friday
Strong cold front moving through the region will bring a significant drop in temperatures Thursday and Friday. There will be a slight chance of a few snow showers in the Sierra above 7000 feet on Thursday, though accumulations more than an inch or so are unlikely.
Temperatures will only make it to the low to mid 60โs in western Nevada and only the low 50โs in the Sierra Thursday. By Friday morning it is going to feel COLD with low temperatures well below freezing in the Sierra and near freezing in some colder western Nevada valleys.” – NOAA Reno, NV yesterday
