NOAA: Winter Storm Watch for Montana Sunday/Monday | 7-15+” of Snow Forecast

NOAA has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northern Montana that is forecasting 7-15+” of snow in the mountains on Sunday/Monday.

This is only the second Winter Storm Watch of winter 2016/17. ย The first one was also in Montanaย on October 2nd, 2016. ย It’s starting to pile up up there…

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 7 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE VALLEYS AND IN
  THE MOUNTAINS 7 TO 15 INCHES. SOME LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS

.A SHARP COLD FRONT WILL PUSH SOUTH OUT OF CANADA SUNDAY NIGHT
THROUGH MONDAY. THIS WILL BRING SNOW TO THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRONT
AND ADJACENT PLAINS DURING THIS TIME PERIOD. SNOW MAY BE MODERATE
TO HEAVY AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY
MORNING...AFFECTING THOSE WITH OUTDOOR PLANS AND TRAVELERS ON
MOUNTAIN PASSES.

STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING.

* LOCATIONS...BROWNING...MARIAS PASS...LOGAN PASS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 7 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE VALLEYS AND IN
  THE MOUNTAINS 7 TO 15 INCHES. SOME LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS
  POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS.

* TIMING...RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW TO BEGIN SUNDAY EVENING.
  MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW COULD THEN DEVELOP SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT
  SUNDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. LIGHT TO
  MODERATE SNOW THEN TO LINGER MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* IMPACTS...HUNTERS...HIKERS...AND OTHERS WITH OUTDOOR INTERESTS
  SHOULD PREPARE FOR WINTER CONDITIONS...OR DELAY OUTDOOR PLANS
