A vigorous snow storm will move into Colorado and Utah the next few days with ski areas like Telluride-Wolf Creek and Durango seeing up to a foot of new snow. The bulk of the snow will be in the Central Colorado Mountains including the San Juan’s, Unitah, La Sal mountains. Southwest Co could be hardest hit.

THE GFS HAS THE SNOW & WINDS WEST & CENTRAL COLORADO:

The GFS keeps the majority of the snow in the Western Ski Areas with some snow in the Central Colorado Ski areas at the end of the storm.

THE EURO BACK BUILDS AND LINGERS THE STORM:

The EURO model says we’ll keep the snow falling back into Western and Southwest Colorado and places like Durango and Wolf Creek get a nice pop of snow 8-12″+ at this point.

THE NAM SAYS NOT A BIG STORM BUT PUTS THE SNOW NORTHEAST:

The NAM is a short range model and plays more of a North Central Colorado event vs. the other two models.  The bulk of the snow could fall on the Colorado-Wyoming border the next few days.

What do we think at Liveweatherblogs.com at this point…

The Colorado Mountains and ski areas will get snow and we feel the GFS/EURO solution is the way to go right now. The area we feel to get hardest hit with snow would be western and Southwestern Colorado with Durango and Wolf Creek at the bullseye.  It’s a win for all Colorado ski areas with more storms to come. Denver may get 1-2″ at best with a little more up in foothills and out toward Conifer.
