2023 Freestyle World Championships in Bakuriani, Georgia, Kick Off with Opening Ceremony

The 2023 FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships kick off today in Bakuriani, Georgia. Bakuriani will host 30 competitions over the next 16 days from February 18 to March 5, 2023. Georgia has never hosted an event of this size. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the nation to showcase the beauty of the  Lesser Caucasus Mountains to the world.

The Bakuriani 2023 World Championships will be split between two main venues: Didveli resort, which will host Slopestyle, Big Air, Halfpipe, Parallel, and Cross competitions, while Kokhta resort, 15 minutes away will host moguls and aerials.

Attendance will be around 700 athletes from 40+ nations, plus their coaches and support staff. Training for aerials started on Thursday, February 16, 2023, but the official start to the Championships will be today, when the official Opening Ceremony will be held.
