On Wednesday, the U.S. Forest Service reported that the Caldor fire is 98% contained.
The Caldor Fire began on August 14, and by October 2 had burned around 221,775 acres of land. The fire is located within El Dorado and Amador counties in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
Because of dry weather and low humidity levels, firefighters were observing the fire behavior. Hazard tree removal and disposal of extra plants and flammables on the ground were removed by fire managers. Fire managers continue working on areas near Upper Forni meadows, Trimmer Peak, Schneider Camp Road, Silver Lake, Echo Lake, Scout Peak, and south of Highway 88, according to Sierra Sun.
Although the fire is 98% contained, it is expected to continue into the winter.
