Cardrona continues to have the best conditions right now in the South Island. They have been making snow most days and about 80% of their runs are open. The coverage is almost entirely man-made snow and heavy traffic means conditions have become very icy in places. ย Race Course, All Nations and Gold Rush are especially icy at the moment. Captains Basin has a little more forgiving conditions but is quite crowded.
Treble Cone Update, July 13th, 2016:
“Unfortunately we will be closed today due to adverse weather on the mountain. Currently we have heavy rain and as the day progresses the temperature should starting dropping and with that the snow line. The storm is set to stay for several days and we are hoping this will give us the snow we need in the Home Basin. We will keep you updated as we go.” – Treble Cone, July 13th
Once again there have been some changes in the park with a few features removed and several more added. The third jump in Antlers Alley intermediate line is now open and the large jumps should be open any day now. The halfpipe remains closed, it requires a bit more snow to open.
Things are beginning to look up for all New Zealand ski resorts, a big storm is set to begin tonight. ย Treble Cone and Coronet Peak are both open now and hopefully all resorts will remain open for the rest of the season. Treble Cone currently only has their beginner slope open but should be fully operational this weekend after the storm passes. The Remarkables has 3 out of 4 lifts open and is quite rocky with thin coverage but conditions should improve significantly soon.
