Hands down, this was the best day of the season at Alpine Meadows. The morning started off a bit slow with a few laps on Hot Wheels, as Roundhouse and Summit were still on hold for avalanche control. Roundhouse opened around 10 and Summit at around 1115.
Snow continued to fall throughout the day with some decent wind, which helped fill tracks and kept everyone smiling. I hit a rock or two today, but coverage is significantly better than it has been in past weeks. A colleague of mine really made a good point the other day when she said, “You can either sacrifice a pair of skis, or you can sacrifice a ski season. I’d rather sacrifice a pair of skis.”ย It’s looking like we’ll get some more snow overnight, so things should be pretty fantastic for Saturday morning…. uhhhh, I mean everyone should go to Squaw tomorrow.
