The strong cold push over parts of Europe in the next few days will also result in summer snowfall in parts of the Alps. Snow will be limited to higher elevations, of course, but some parts may see up to 4″. Let’s take a closer look with Severe Weather Europe…
Late on Friday and early on Saturday, the 0ยฐ C isotherm (altitude level) behind the advancing cold front will likely drop to below 6,560-feet across northern and central Austria and below 8,200-feet over Slovenia, eastern Switzerland and northeastern Italy.
In particular, parts of northeastern Alps will likely see snowfall, possibly down to about 6,560-feet. Southeastern Alps may also see some snowfall, although the significantly higher 0 ยฐC level will reduce the chances of snow for many locations there.
