by Arapahoe Basin, CO
There was one last hurrah for lift-served skiing and riding in Colorado – Arapahoe Basin Ski Area turned the lifts for the last time today, officially shutting down winter operations this afternoon. Closing Day was full of costumes, pond skimming on Lake Reveal, tunes from our favorite local band High 5 in the base area, and lots of smiling faces. We had a fantastic season up here at The Legend, and we are proud to be home to the longest ski and ride season in Colorado.
A-Basinโs 2016-17 season by the numbers:
–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Approximately 373โ of snow for the season
–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 230 days of operation (we opened for the season all the way back on October 21, 2016)
–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย That means A-Basin was open for skiing over 60% of the regular year (365 days)
–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Nearly 40,000 A-Basin Bloody Marys sold (with 204 orders for an extra strip of bacon!)
–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Over $40,000 raised during our three annual fundraising events (Beacon Bowl, Save Our Snow and The Enduro)
Thank you all for your support over the course of the season. I hope you got to come take some turns with us! Weโll be open for summer operations starting June 30, with dining and events into September. I heard somewhere that itโs around 132 days until we open back up again? Until then, enjoy the warm weather, rafting, hiking, biking and everything this beautiful state has to offer โ and please be sure to say hi if youโre playing in our neck of the woods! Weโll see you for season #71 in October.
