Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina has been getting hammered by snow since last weekend. ย Coverage up high is great for this time of yearย and things are pretty thin down low. ย Today was the first day with good visibility all week and it did not disappoint. ย Catedral is reporting about a foot of snow in the past two days on the upper mountain.
Last night’s cold sucked some of the moisture out of the old snow and a few new inches of snow had fallen since closing yesterday making today’s snow damn fun.
The snow up high was a mix of powder, wind buff, and wet snow lower down. ย It was all fun snow but the wet stuff lower down skied the best.
The Nubes chairlift (the best chairย at Catedral) opened early withย fresh, fun snow in the entire zone. ย Once things got a bit tracked out around 12:30pm, I headed over to La Laguna to find untouched goodness and no one around.
The snow in La Laguna seemed a touch better than on Nubes and there were nearly no tracks anywhere. ย Three laps in Laguna put a deep smile on my face. ย It was a great welcome back to Bariloche.
The current forecast is showing 40″ of snow in the 7 day forecast for Catedral with most of itย coming over the weekend. ย Next week should prove incredible.
