For some resorts in Pennsylvania, it is opening weekend for the 2024-25 season. Six resorts around the state will open this weekend, most of which are on the eastern side of Pennsylvania. Blue Mountain Resort is one of those mountains, home to the state’s highest vertical at 1,082 feet.

Blue Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania, opened with 11 runs, five lifts, and more than 1,000 vertical feet to carve. Thanks to one of the East Coastโ€™s largest snow-making systems, enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders were able to start the winter season today. The Resortโ€™s snow tubing park, the largest in the nation, is slated to open with limited lanes on Saturday, Dec. 7. Operational hours are from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Blue Mountain Resort is a year-round resort located along the Kittatinny Ridge in the Pocono Mountain region and sits within Little Gap Valley in Pennsylvania. Originally opened in 1977 as Little Gap Ski Area, it was renamed Blue Mountain Resort in 1989. With the biggest vertical drop of any ski resort in Pennsylvania, it features 40 ski trails, 16 lifts, 29 mountain biking trails, a ropes course, a rock climbing wall, and more. The resort offers camping and glamping sites, dining at Slopeside Pub & Grill, and spaces for indoor and outdoor weddings, groups, and corporate retreats.

Blue Mountain has completed a multi-million-dollar snowmaking upgrade, adding 132 new stick guns, six fan guns, and revamped automation software. This update will increase early season coverage by 17.5%. A new Prinoth Bison X Cat snow groomer has also been added, and popular trails like Come Around and Lower Lazy have been expanded. Blue Mountainโ€™s Wood Fired Pizza & Pub returns with quick, delicious options like the Dreamweaver pizza. Blue Mountain and Camelback have also launched the Peak-to-Peak Poconos Pass, which offers unlimited access to both resorts without blackout dates.
