The body of a kayaker whoย had been missing since June 8th, 2017 was located in 245′ of water on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, CA yesterday.
“On August 26, 2017, a non-profit group called Bruceโs Legacy (from Wisconsin) arrived to assist.ย Bruceโs Legacy has located 18 drowning victims in just four years by using state of the art side scan sonar, Tow Fish sonar, an underwater remote operating vehicle (ROV), and years of operating experience.ย Bruceโs Legacy assisted in another recovery in Lake Tahoe in July, and made a recovery at Stampede Reservoir a few days ago. ย Utilizing their side scan sonar, Bruceโs Legacy located Danย Phamย in 245 feet of water off of Rubicon Point, in the area of K9 alerts. Phamโs body was recovered after being brought to the surface by theย ROV operated by Bruceโs Legacy. ย The El Dorado County Sheriffโs Office Coroner Division and South Lake Tahoe Detectives are handling this investigation.” –ย El Dorado Sheriff’s Office

Missing Kayaker located in Lake Tahoe
On June 8, 2017, the Elย Doradoย County Sheriffโs Office assisted California State Parks with a report of a missingย kayaker. The kayaker, Danย Pham, left from Lester Beach on his way to boat camp in Emerald Bay.ย Phamย never arrived.
An extensive search effort was conducted by Elย Doradoย County Sheriffโs Office Search and Rescue (SAR), Elย Doradoย County Sheriffโs Office Marine unit, California State Parks, Douglas County Sheriffโs Officeย SAR, Douglas County Sheriffโs Office Marine unit, United States Coast Guard, and Alameda County Sheriffโs Office. During this search,ย SARย K9 teams located an area of interest off Rubicon Point, butย Phamย was not located.
