I awoke today in Concord California, Ubered my way to Oakland airport, flew Southwest to Salt Lake City, UT, Ubered to Park City, grabbed my car then drove up to Brighton Ski Resort to meet up with some friends.
I arrived at Brighton at 11 am.
Brighton had just gotten 4″ of snow overnight and 9″ of snow in the past 24 hours.
Lifts open today:ย Majestic, Crest, Explorer.
It looked like they were trying to get Snake Creek Express ready for tomorrow, maybe?
Up high, the off-piste runs were soft, chopped up powder.
Down low, well-covered groomers allowed for some speed and good times.
If you hiked up from the top of the chair, you could get full on powder runs and we did.
Brighton has more terrain open than any other ski resort in Utah right now and they opened more terrain today than they had open yesterday.
The weather today was very pleasantย with in and out sun, low winds, relatively warm temps (high 20s and low 30s), and occasionalย very light snow flurries.
Tomorrow will be a powder day.
NOAA has issued a Winter Storm Warning that is in effect until tomorrow at noon that is forecast to drop 1-2 Feet of new snow in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons.
…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON MST SATURDAY…
* WHAT…Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet, with locally higher amounts.
- NOAA SLC, UT today
Today was only our 2nd day of ski resort skiing this season and it was an awfully fun day.
Skiing is fun.
When we got back to Park City after skiing, a pretty great firework show was going off just outside our door.
The magic of winter is officially here.
