Skiing Powder & Crusty Snow in British Columbia, Canada On The Last Day of Our Trip

Report from January 29, 2025

Yesterday was our final backcountry ski day in British Columbia, Canada.

For nowโ€ฆ

We skied 20 of 28 days in the backcountry and got in 7 ski days at Revelstoke and 1 at Kicking Horse.

I totaled 65,800-vertical-feet climbed and 161-traveled in the backcountry.

Iโ€™m truly exhaustedโ€ฆ

Yesterday we ventured into a completely new zone hoping to find the last bit of good snow out there.

While we did find a few good turns, the majority of the run held crusty, challenging snow.

It took a month but the snow finally did go bad up hereโ€ฆ

We battled down steep gullies, old refrozen avalanches, gnarly waterfalls, and terrifying roadside travel to get back home.

Definitely the worst snow of the trip and the most challenging homerun but hey, it was the last day and BC wasnโ€™t gonna let us off that easy.

We laughed at our suffering and cruised home happy.

Dinner Bierhuas in Revlestoke was delicious and fun.

It was the last supper for us and I even had a beer!

First drink of the year.

Thank you so much to all the folks who skied and hung out with us.

One of the best ski months of my life.

Thanks, BC!

  1. We were on the road in southern BC for the last 3 weeks. It started snowing as soon as we got home. Great trip but no pow.
