A Facebook post by the NWS over the weekend brought the sobering news that areas of California are suffering their driest February on record:
February is shaping up to be the driest on record for several locations across interior NorCal. Except for a slight chance of showers in the mountains & northern San Joaquin Valley this weekend, dry weather will likely continue through the end of the month.
Another post, on Twitter, also claims that San Francisco could see no precipitation in February for only the second time on record (the other being 1864).
Downtown San Francisco is on pace for no precipitation for the month of February which has only happened once (in 1864).
Here’s a look at rain accumulations for March after the 10 driest Feb’s for downtown SF.
Will 2020 see a “March miracle” like 1899, 1852, or 1995?
Time to do those snow dances, people, pray to Ullr, put your trail maps in the freezer, burn skis. Do whatever it takes to make #MiracleMarch happen!
