Thredbo Alpine Resort, Australia, announced yesterday, September 6, that the resort will end its 2024 winter season on Sunday, September 15. The resort was forced to close the Cruiser area and High Noon are for skiing and snowboarding ahead of this weekend. The only area remaining open until the closing day at Thredbo will be the Friday Flat beginner area. The aprรฉs events scheduled for this and the coming weekend will still go ahead.
Australian ski resorts have been experiencing one of the toughest ski seasons in living memory. Snowfall has stayed well below the average, and the 2024 winter season was even shorter than the 2023 winter season. Mount Buller, Mount Baw Baw, and Mount Hotham have ceased operations in Victoria. Falls Creek is still operating, offering skiing and boarding on five runs. In New South Wales, Selwyn had to close at the end of August, and after Thredboโs closure next weekend, only Perisher and Charlotte Pass will still be operating in the state.
In Thredbo this weekend, the Tess Coady x Monster Energy Bush Doof will be held on Saturday, followed by the Official Afterparty at Alpine Bar featuring Stace Cadet & KLP. Next weekend, which will be Thredbo’s closing weekend, the resort will host the First Base ft. The Knocks (USA) is presented by the Canadian Club.
