Back in 2016, Echo Mountain, CO, was saved from the brink of extinction by the company Burwell Enterprises. The previous owners had filed for bankruptcy and the future of the ski area was in jeopardy.
Over the last seven years, Burwell has built and grown the area into what it is today.
Now the area has announced it is being sold to the “shared services organization” Jogan Inc., which hopes to continue the upward trajectory of the operation. This is how Jogan describes itself on its LinkedIn page: “Jogan Inc. is a shared services organization founded by entrepreneur Dan Dietrich. The growing company aims to revolutionize the staffing, transportation, security, consumer, wellness, medical, and real estate industries with technological innovation and comprehensive solutions that bring communities closer together.”
Chief executive for Burwell Enterprises, Peter Burwell, had this to say about his company’s divestiture:
“Our goal with Echo Mountain was to create Colorado’s most affordable, most accessible, and most diverse ski and snowboard destination. Our remarkable team members at Echo built that vision into a reality. My family is incredibly proud of that and them.”
Echo Mountain has a long and rich history. It is the closest ski area to the Denver metropolitan area at just 36 miles from downtown. It has built a reputation as a local spot for being affordable and family-friendly. Within its 60 acres of terrain are one triple chair, two conveyor lifts, two terrain parks, and 12 trails. The vertical rise is 600 feet, and the ski area is on the Indy Pass. With night skiing, a brand-new tubing hill, and a fantastic bar and restaurant, it is no wonder this is a great spot for an authentic Colorado experience.
Fred Klaas, who managed Echo Mountain while under Burwell ownership offered this perspective:
“I am so incredibly proud of all the hard work our team at Echo put in over the last seven years to create, build, and grow it into what it is today. We were able to build a great foundation for Echo and execute on a lot of its vast potential, and we recognize there is still so much more opportunity ahead for it. The new owners are really excited about what Echo is today and the potential for what it can become. More information will be available in the coming days regarding future plans.โ
It sounds like the new owners have plans to keep improving the area. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
