Report from Saturday, November 9, 2024
Copper Mountain in Colorado kicked off its season on Friday, November 8. Opening weekend was greeted by 18โ of snow accumulating throughout the week. Copper Mountain operated the American Eagle, and Excelerator lifts to feed guests with groomed runs and a small terrain park.
I got to the mountain on Saturday to experience the opening weekend at Copper Mountain. Snow continued to fall throughout the day, softening the groomers, which were riding a little crunchy in some areas. Main Vein was where most of the action was, and everyone was enjoying getting their first turns of the season in.
Around 10 a.m., ski patrol allowed about 100 people to ski Fair Play and Foul Play to help consolidate the snowpack. Luckily, my buddy and I were able to join in on the fun and we gladly chased down untracked powder in the name of helping ski patrol. Nothing like getting a deep pow lap on day one of the season! Hooping and hollering our way down the seemingly bottomless snowpack, we couldnโt be more stoked to be back riding deep snow.
Before ending the day, we stopped at the new Aerie food hall at the top of the American Eagle lift. The food hall opened this summer and offers great views of the nearby Gore and Ten Mile Mountain Ranges. We explored the food hall and watched the snow continue to drop before heading down for our final lap.
Copper Mountain is having a good start to the season, and snowpack is at 137% of average, according to OpenSnow. Overall, the mountain rode pretty well for November, and the fresh snow softened things up as they continued to operate the snow guns throughout the day.
