Chalet Edelweiss is a sprawling property across six floors and encompasses an incredible 34,444 square feet (3,200 square meters) of internal living in the heart of Courchevel, France. It is a new building but kept in the traditional European mountain chalet style and is beautifully designed on the inside as well, featuring natural wood throughout. A breathtaking spiral staircase connects all the floors in the center of the building, but donโt worry, there is an internal lift as well if you are tired after skiing.
The stunning chalet sleeps 16 guests in eight generously-sized bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. There are two master suites of more than 1,000 square feet (100 square meters) each, with two dressing rooms and one with its own living area and the other with an office area. Warm wood is featured throughout the house, including the bedrooms, giving the property a cozy and warm alpine atmosphere.
Naturally, the property is ski-in and ski-out and the 540 square feet (50 square metres) ski room opens directly onto the Bellecote piste in Courchevel. The chalet is in the small hamlet of Bellecote. Courchevel is one of the premier European ski destinations and is located in the famous Les Trois Vallees ski area in the southwest of France.ย Courchevel has a small airport but the runway is so short at 1,752 ft (547m) and the location so difficult, only small planes and helicopters can land there. The nearest international airport, Geneva, is roughly two hours to the north. Les Trois Vallees (or Three Valleys) is the second-largest ski area in the world, offering 375 miles (600km) of groomed runs. The resort is known for its modern lift infrastructure and has been using 100% green electricity for more than 10 years.
The chalet has a large dining area and several living and lounge areas and bars for relaxing after a day of skiing and offers plenty of entertainment from a pool table, library, cinema, and private nightclub with a DJ station and dance floor. To round out your vacation, the house has its own spa level with a gym, massage room, and pool area with a 43ft (13m) heated indoor pool, indoor hot tub, and hammam sauna.
The property is owned by former investment manager and art collector Christian Levett and his wife Florence and showcases some beautiful pieces of art from his private collection, such as works by Miro, Damien Hirst, Roy Lichtenstein, and Salvador Dali.
One week rental is about $250,000-$300,000, depending on the time of year. It is solidly booked out over Christmas and New Years but still has availability for January and February. The two master bedroom set up makes the property perfect for sharing between two large families. There is ample parking and a car lift to take cars to the basement. The price includes staff and a driver but excludes all food and drinks.
It truly looks like the perfect combination of alpine charm and ultimate luxury.ย Is this the most incredible ski chalet you have ever seen for rent or is there something missing that you would like to see? Let us know in the comments.
Nothing says “ski bum” like obscene oppulence
I have trouble believing that the people who live here are REALLY avid skiers.
