Deer Valley, UT, is reportedly in talks with the developers of the new Mayflower Mountain Resort, Extell Development Company, about handling the operations of the new resort. The Mayflower Mountain Resort is currently under construction and is adjacent to the Deer Valley Resort.

Last Monday, March 20, 2023, a panel discussion about the ski industry was held by Leadership Park City at the Park City Library. Amongst other items on the agenda, the potential management of the new Mayflower Mountain Resort by Alterra Mountain Company, operator of the Deer Valley resort, was a key point of the panel discussion.
The Deer Valley President and COO, Todd Bennett, told those in attendance that Deer Valley and Mayflower Mountain Resort are currently in talks about the operations of the terrain. If the Mayflower Mountain Resort slopes are included in the Deer Valley terrain, Deer Valley’s ski-only policy would also apply at the new resort. The comment about the snowboard ban sparked applause from the audience.
The Mayflower Mountain Resort is an Extell Development Company project that is underway in conjunction with the state Military Installation Development Authority. Discounted hotel rooms will be reserved for the military as part of the overall project.
Mayflower Mountain Resort will cover 1,000 skiable acres serviced by five new ski lifts in its first stage. Ultimately, it is planned that the resort will spread across 4,300 skiable acres serviced by 15 ski lifts. Extell will also build three hotels, a range of luxury ski-in-ski-out homes, and a commercial downtown area similar to Park City’s historic Main Street. The resort initially planned to open in 21/22, but covid, amongst others, has delayed the launch. The resort is now slated to open for the 24/25 ski season.
