Report from December 28, 2024

Deer Valley opened both the Sultan and Empire chairs for the first time this season today.

Sultan is my favorite chair at Deer Valley…

I showed up late to allow any potential holiday crowds dissipate like so many spilled beans.

I headed straight for Sultan.

The top was closed but they were letting us ski some of the lower half.

The skiing was good.

Grassy, bushy powder skiing in mellow, rolling terrain.

The snow was a touch heavy for Utah standards and very fun.

No lift lines.

Hardly anyone skiing the Sultan zone.

A little holiday paradise reprieve.

I lapped Sultan and only Sultan until closing time.

No traffic, parked within 40 yards of the gondola, no lift lines.

Shout out to Harrison & Peter operating the Sultan chair for their good vibes and clean humor.

A special holiday week day.

Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year.

Thanks, Utah!
