French freestyle skiing star Perrine Laffont reaffirmed her dominance in Moguls on Wednesday, March 19, capturing her third consecutive world title at the 2025 Freestyle World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The victory marks Laffontโ€™s sixth career World Championship Gold, winning  also three Dual Mogul events so far in her career.Laffont, widely regarded as the โ€œQueen of Moguls,โ€ is one of the most accomplished mogul skiers in history, boasting 32 World Cup victories, nine Crystal Globes, and an Olympic gold. After stepping away from competition last season to recover from the mental and physical toll of the sport, she returned with renewed energy. During the 2024-25 World Cup season, Laffont won two World Cups and claimed second place in another five mogul events.

Her path to another world title was made somewhat easier by the absence of Jakara Anthony, the defending Olympic champion. Australiaโ€™s Anthony, who dominated the 2023-24 season with a record-breaking 14 victories, suffered a fractured collarbone earlier this season and was unable to compete at the 2025 World Championships. The Australian had been nearly untouchable last year, winning all three Moguls Crystal Globes and setting a new prize money record in freestyle skiing with CHF 192,750 (USD 217,082).

Despite Anthonyโ€™s absence, Laffontโ€™s victory was anything but routine. She delivered a commanding performance to edge out Japanโ€™s Hinako Tomitaka, who secured Silver, while Canadaโ€™s Maia Schwinghammer took Bronze. USAโ€™s Jaelin Kauf, who claimed the World Cup season title in single moguls, dual moguls as well as the overall title, made a mistake during the finals that put her out of contest for the podium.

On the menโ€™s side, Japanโ€™s Ikuma Horishima denied Mikael Kingsbury a fourth consecutive World Championship title, claiming Gold in moguls. Kingsbury, the most decorated menโ€™s moguls skier in history, finished second, while South Koreaโ€™s Jung Daeyoon took Bronze. For Horishima, the win adds to his impressive resumeโ€”he previously claimed both the moguls and dual moguls world titles in 2017 and now holds three career World Championship golds.

The 2025 Freestyle World Championships continue on Friday, March 21, with Dual Moguls. Dual Moguls will premier as an Olympic event at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
