Donald Trump is slated to fly into Aspen airport this Saturday, August 10, to attend a multi-million dollar fundraiser by the Republican Party. Tickets for the fundraiser are sold out, which will add some considerable funds to Trumpโs election campaign, given ticket prices for the dinner and roundtable range from $25,000 to $500,000 per couple.
Hosts of the Aspen fundraiser include billionaire Jeff Hildebrand, who owns a ranch in Aspen, Colorado, homebuilding magnate Larry Mizel, investment manager Duke Buchan III, investment manager Warren Lichtenstein, investment manager Drew McKnight, and former chairman of the Illinois Republican Party Andrew McKenna Jr. It is Trumpโs first visit to Colorado this election cycle.
Trump is currently attending a rally in Montana and is expected to fly into either the Rifle, Eagle, or Grand Junction airports on Saturday morning, according to information obtained by the Aspen Times from Rifle Garfield County Airport director Brian Condie. Irrespective of the airport, Trumpโs motorcade will eventually have to make its way down Highway 82 and some small delays should be anticipated for Saturday.
Colorado is considered a swing state and has trended towards being a blue state in recent years. While it has voted Republican in the past, it has voted Democratic in the last four presidential elections (2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020).
In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden won Colorado by a margin of 13.5%, receiving 55.4% of the vote to Donald Trump’s 41.9%. However, it’s worth noting that Colorado’s political landscape can vary depending on the region, with some areas like El Paso County and Mesa County tend to vote more Republican, while others like Denver and Boulder tend to vote more Democratic.
