IS TAHOE EVEN OPEN?????
——————————————————————————————————————————
Is there snow in Tahoe???? The proverbial question of the 14/15 season.
Well, Kirkwood continues to defy nature’s continuous effort to melt off the mountain.
With a few feet at the beginning of March, Kirkwood received a much needed refresher to keep the season on schedule. Other than a nasty ice layer on the steepest upper elevations, skiing was a blast on March 4th and 8th. Highlights include the usual spots such as Broadway & Boulevard in West Shore, Chamoix, Oops & Poops, Lightning, All the Way off The Wall, and taking groomer laps with the kids.
Is this it for the year?
Here’s to a abnormally awesome April…I guess.

Untouched corduroy is a great way to start the day…
The Wall looking nice and buffed out…
Aaron Miller finds a slash of pow on the Wall…
Norm’s Nose was a bit hit or miss…
Round Top Peak with a glaze of Winter…
Peak 9795 had some love from the East winds and we should have went there instead…
We headed over to Broadway in the Kirkwood backountry and I found a nice ribbon of snow between some ice on the upper section…
Ok, so now I’m in it…
This is NOT looking good…
I tried to take a safer route, but it was also blue ice. My edges would not hold and I began to slide without any control…
Luckily, I was able to straightline out of there into the powder below…
The lower section to Emigrant Lake was much more pleasant…
On our 2nd lap, we decided to take a look down Boulevard Chute…
Such an aesthetic line…
With blue ice down the center, I did my best to hug the winter snow on the side…
I knew the snow was perfect below the crux, so I just let them run…
Nice and fluffy on the exit…
Aaron decided to get some hippy pow around the corner…
Some other folks had the same idea…
Given the drought, Kirkwood is holding on strong at 100% open…
I found some powder on Chamoix, days after the storm…
The piste warriors were out in force…
The low-tide conditions keep the Fingers interesting…
This is why Kirkwood is such a fun mountain…
Afternoon laps on Oops & Poops can’t be beat…
The only bonus of the drought is fun airs all over the mountain…
The scenery on the drive home isn’t too shabby either…

Gorgeous day, let’s go skiing!!!
My daughter and I slay Chair 9 before her lesson…
Timber Creek has been so perfect for us this season…
Wagon Wheel Bowl and the Fingers coverage…
The Banzai Tour was racing down the Wall into Snowsnake gulley…
Just passed the Banzai start, I found some fun turns…
Soft snow a week after the storm???
Untouched and a soft landing…
I think I’ll take another thank you…
Issac on patrol radioing to HQ that I found some untracked pow on The Wall…
Even on THE WORST YEAR EVER, I’m still having a blast…
Before I grabbed the 6 year old from Mini-Jets, I took some laps on Chair 6…
I even found some untracked chute skiing on Lightning…
With the Fingers softening, I didn’t want them to feel left out…
Hey kid, where do you want to ski?
We found some sweet snow on Conestoga…
Some jumps in the Outlaw park before grabbing the 3 year old…
Vineyards are blooming on the drive back to the land of the Internet…
…END OF TRANSMISSION
