The Resort

Eldora is located about 45 minutes from Denver. On IKON boasting 1,400 vertical feet, 680 acres and 10 lifts, it’s a smaller hill for Colorado. But close to Denver and offers great terrain.

We started the morning in Kremmling, CO, and made the drive to Winter Park for a few laps (and Waffle Cabin waffles). Then continued for about two hours to Eldora.

We arrived around the early afternoon. After searching for parking for a while, we finally found a spot. It’s always exciting to pull into a new mountain.

Trees up top off of Corona Chair had some snow, but it was thin down low. Off skiers left, Salto Glades and West Ridge had good coverage due to the recent snowfall. This zone brings big mountain skiing very close to Denver.

On groomed pistes, coverage was great with a deep base. Runs were narrow compared to larger resorts farther inland, but that didn’t stop anyone from having a great time.

We heard it was a big day to ski because of the big snow week prior to this weekend. Many Denver locals like to run up for half days since the drive is short. Easy to do with only a 45 minute commute.

Eldora was a great experience and I’m excited to get back. Weekends can get a little crowded from time to time, but overall an amazing mountain amenity for Denver locals to be at quickly on half work/school days. Get after it!
