U.K. Singer Ellie Goulding will be headlining the “Top of the Mountain Opening Concert” at Ischgl, Austria, on November 30. Goulding will perform many of her biggest hits, like “Love Me Like You Do,” alongside tunes from her latest album, “Higher Than Heaven.” The concert will be held at the Ischgl Stage at the Silvretta Valley station in the Silvretta car park and start at 6:00 p.m. Doors will open and the DJ set will kick off from 4:30 p.m. Tickets for the event start at €90.
The Top of the Mountain Opening Concert marks the musical start of the winter season in the cross-border resort Ischgl-Samnaun. The Austrian ski resort is interconnected to Samnaun in Switzerland. Together, the combined ski area offers 150 miles (239km) of groomed runs serviced by 45 lifts and cable cars. It has one of the world’s most modern lift infrastructures and an hourly lift capacity of 90,733 pax. Every year around 2 million people come to ski in Ischgl Samnaun. The ski area is set to open for skiing and boarding on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
Reaching Samnaun from the Swiss side is quite an adventure as the small town is nestled deep inside Austrian mountain ranges and only a small road, which was blasted in 1912 and has scary one-way tunnels, leads from the Engadine in Switzerland to this remote resort. Due to its remote location, the town was awarded a tax-free status by the Swiss federation in 1892 which lasts to this day. From Samnaun you can take a double-decker gondola to the top of the mountain and ski from there into Austria and from Austria, you can ski on the “smuggler’s run” back into Switzerland.
