Pacific Northwest: Anticipate a wet and snowy season, with a mix of rain and snow contributing to slushy conditions in some areas.

Southeast: While generally wet, the region may experience a mix of rain and snow, which may affect ski areas in the higher elevations.

Cold Temperatures

Northern Plains and Great Lakes: A deep chill is predicted to settle over these regions for much of the winter, with the potential for extremely cold temperatures, particularly during the final week of January into early February.

Southern Areas: While temperatures are expected to be more moderate, frigid blasts from Old Man Winter could still occur, impacting ski areas in these regions.

Weather Warnings

Eastern Half of the Country: The final week of January is expected to bring an active storm track with heavy precipitation and strong winds, potentially affecting ski operations.

Texas and the Northwest: A potential snowstorm could bring up to 6 inches of snow to Texas and a foot or more to the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho during the first week of February.

Overall, ski and mountain regions in the USA can expect a dynamic winter with significant snowfall and cold temperatures, particularly in the Northeast, Great Lakes, and Pacific Northwest areas.
