Fire at Michigan’s Boyne Highlands Main Lodge Injures 12

Harbor Springs, Michigan: Over the weekend an early morning fire ripped through the Main Lodge at Boyne Highlands ski resort. The blaze began at approximately 1:30 am Sunday morning. Sixty-four of the rooms were occupied that night, with a total of 113 guests.

Twelve of the guests were injured, one seriously. The 23-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Over 40% of the Main Lodge suffered fire damage with the rest of the structure incurring significant smoke and water damage. The Lodge has been closed indefinitley. The cause of the fire is not yet known and is still under investigation.

Boyne Highlands is one of Michigan’s most popular ski resorts. The ski resort has been closed until further notice.
