The International Ski & Snowboard Federation (‘FIS’) announced today, January 29, 2024, that the Women’s speed events, scheduled for February 3-4, will be canceled due to warm weather. In a press release shared on social media, FIS stated that the event on the Kandahar race course was called off due to safety reasons. The organization worked on finding a potential replacement for the two races on the same dates as originally planned, but due to time constraints, no solution was found.

The next women’s speed event will be in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.

Thankfully, the German resort was able to hold the men’s speed races this past weekend, January 27 and 28.

The next men’s speed events in Chamonix have also been called off. FIS made the announcement about the cancellation on Saturday, January 27.
