Report from December 2, 3, 4, 2024
On Monday, I drove across the deserts of Nevada from Park City, UT, to Olympic Valley, CA.
I left at 6 am to ski the afternoon at Palisades Tahoe.
After a quick stop at the grocery store and season pass office, I was skiing by 2 pm.
To my delighted surprise, the Reverse Traverse & Palisades were open!
I sped out the Reverse Traverse and found North Bowl off Headwall skiing great.
I then hiked up The Palisades and the Burma Chutes next to National were spicy and fun.
I followed Timmy down Burma and he pointed it like a wild man and skied outta sight…
The skiers here always blow me away.
We caught the very last Reverse Traverse as patrol was closing it towards the end of the day and we went for CII Bowl.
I decided on Classic Chute and it skied amazingly.
Old powder, chowder, chalk, and some firm snow.
I was pumped!
It was my favorite ski day of the season in by far the best terrain.
I was right back out at 9am on Tuesday for more.
I dropped straight into Classic Chute again and while the early morning sunshine was nice in the upper powder, the chute had set up over night and kicked my ass.
I skied a few laps and went home.
I came back out in the afternoon once things had warmed up and gotten skied out a bit and the skiing was much improved.
I hit Classic, Pinner, and another unknown chute CII Bowl and had a hoot.
Yesterday (Wednesday), I met up with the boys and chased them around the mountain.
Scott Gaffney, Fox, Kush, & Dirty Money.
Shirley Lake Laps to warm up then Palisades to CII Bowl fun.
We got in a couple of CII Bowls and some groomers and called it.
Palisades is skiing incredibly well right now, there is no one here, and it’s warm.
You can ski corn and winter snow in the same run this time of year with the sun angle.
Too fun.
Thanks, California!
