Hunter Mountain, guests, local community members, and the team celebrated a major milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at one of its two new Epic Lift Upgrades designed to elevate the skiing and riding experience this winter season.

  • Broadway Express: A new high-speed, 6-person chair replaced the existing 4-person fixed-grip Broadway Lift and reduces wait times at one of the mountainโ€™s most popular lifts while increasing uphill capacity by 55%, making it even easier for guests to access the terrain they love.
  • Otis Quad: The existing 4-person fixed-grip Broadway Lift replaced the 2-person fixed-grip E lift, increasing uphill capacity and ensuring guests have more time to learn new skills and explore terrain.

“Together, these enhancements are a pivotal move that aligns with our commitment to providing a progressive learning experience for our visitors of all ski and ride levels, from beginners to seasoned pros,” Hunter Mountain stated in a press release.

Quote from Trent Poole, Hunter General Manager:

“Hunter Mountain opened for our 65th season on December 1, with the new Broadway Express lift spinning, and today our ribbon cutting is a way to celebrate this exciting upgrade and milestone,” says Trent Poole, General Manager of Hunter Mountain. “It’s great to see the new high-speed 6-pack lift in action, providing direct access to the terrain our guests love while significantly reducing wait times on our main lifts. Weโ€™re incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work our team put into this project. It was one of two Epic Lift Upgrades and a major automated snowmaking project the team accomplished this summer. All in an effort to continue enhancing the guest experience and honor Hunter’s legacy of innovation.”

Since opening 65 years ago on January 9, 1960, Hunter Mountain has a history of innovation and leadership in the industry, from being the first ski resort in New York to install snowmaking to being the first in the world to feature both top-to-bottom snowmaking and have 100% coverage of the mountain; and to being the first in the U.S. to install an automated snowmaking system. While the resort has grown and evolved over the decades with new lifts and new peaks, it still boasts the same energy and sense of adventure, providing skiers and riders a destination to learn, progress, and challenge themselves. Today, Hunterโ€™s legacy as an industry leader continues with a major capital improvement project for the 2024-25 winter season, adding 141 automated snow guns to the lineup and the Epic Lift Upgrade of the Broadway Lift, now called Broadway Express, and E Lift, now called Otis Quad. Together, these new enhancements will elevate the experiences of both beginner and advanced skiers and riders, especially early season in time for the holidays.
