It is mid-September, which means that winter is not that far away, and some of us will be hitting the slopes in roughly 60 days. Snow has already fallen in parts of the United States and Canada this season, and the Northeast has joined the club this week. Whiteface Mountain in New York saw snow flurries early this week, and now Jay Peak in Vermont has also seen the signs that winter is coming with snow falling at the resort. It is that time of the year when skiers and snowboarders are getting ready and stoked for the new season.
Jay Peak is deep in northern Vermont, where a slice of paradise is frozen in traditional ski culture, providing access to some of the best terrain you can find in the East. The infamous โJay Cloud,โ which is notorious for providing plenty of snowfall, wonโt show itself until you are practically on the resort, where snow banks are twice the size as those just down the road. From tight trees and steep chutes to buttery groomers, high-quality parks, and some low-angle beginner terrain, youโre bound to find what youโre looking for. Jay is cold and windy; the mountain throws out all it can to make you earn those turns, and thatโs what makes it special.
