Although it is now officially May, and spring has sprung across North America with summer hot on its tail, the corn skiing is out there waiting to be harvested. On the East Coast, Killington, Vermont, is still going strong with plans to keep the Superstar Express Quad lift and Superstar Run open as long as possible. In response to a comment on an Instagram post, Killington replied “Weโre hoping to make June!”
In another Instagram post from April 16, Killington congratulated an individual for guessing this seasonโs maximum snow depth on Superstar. It came in at a staggering 340 inches, or more than 28 feet! Even with warm spring temperatures and sunshine, it should take quite a while for all of that snow to melt.
The Beast of the East is well known for having the longest season east of the Mississippi, providing skiers and snowboarders prime spring conditions for months. In both 2022 and 2023, Killington kept Superstar Expres spinning into the first week of June. It appears they are going for a June close three years in a row!
So grab those Hawaiian shirts and bathing suits, wax up your skis or snowboards, and donโt call it quits on the season just yet!
Thanks to global cooling!
