ABRACADABRA!
…and just like that, all the deep powder in Tahoe was gone yesterday!
Apparently 100mph winds + high snowfall rates = insanely deep powder skiing.
But 100mph winds + no new snow = all of Tahoe is pretty damn wind hammered now…
Here’s how yesterday went for us:
“After being as deep as you can get in the Tahoe scene on the uphill – multiple blazing red bull helmets, legendary snowboarders, the best ski mountaineers on Earth – we reached the Zenith and stepped through a portal into another dimension and never saw another person again… The snow was good yet bizarre, the wind was insane yet allowing, the joy I felt propelled me to want to never ever stop skiing…”
Yup, that’s kinda how it went and it was rad!
Especially because we didn’t think we were going to have any fun skiing because so much of the mountain was wind-hammered and weird.
We saw things out there that we’d never seen before – shapes carved by the 100mph+ winds.
For our second lap we hit a new zone that held decent, wind-sheltered, 6″ deep, dense powder.
5,000-vertical-feet, 7-miles, a lotta laughs, and some serious exhaustion towards the end…
Front Street Pizza on the way home never tasted so good.
The Carnivore & The Californian slices were $$$$.
Thanks, California!
