A large avalanche occurred in Huntington Canyon Tuesday, temporarily blocking Huntington Creek in Emery County, UT. The slide came down Day Canyon near the Chute Campsite.
A large amount of snow and debris came off the burn scar from the Seeley Fire of 2012. The avalanche was approximately 200-yards wide and between 30 and 40 feet deep. Heavy equipment was dispatched to the scene, but the creek managed to break through the slide on its own. SR31 was not impacted.
