With only one other eight-person chairlift existing in North America at Big Sky, Montana, Loon Mountain in New Hampshire will be the second resort in North America and the first on the east coast to offer this type of lift next season.
The chairlift is set to be built over this coming off-season and will be ready for the 2021-2022 ski season. The new 8-person chair will be replacing the old high-speed Kancamagus Quad that runs from Governor Adam’s Lodge up the mountain.
The end of an era. You served us well but we are excited for new beginnings!

The new chairlift will be state-of-the-art and include a safety bar with footrests, a bubble for wind protection, and ergonomically designed extra widened heated seats. The chairlift will be noticeably quiet and super quick, moving at a speed of 18’ per second, allowing skiers to get to the top of the lift in 4.5 minutes.
The addition of an eight-person chairlift is only one step in a larger vision Loon Mountain has in its 2030 10-year growth plan.
Imagine 8 snowboarders unloading at the same time, throw a goofy footer in the middle. Total mayham!
At least it’s not gonna be 40+ minute waits thank GOD. I can deal with a bunch of kooks who like going sideways in a pile, but long lines are even worse
