Mammoth, CA Backcountry Report, VIDEO, & Photos: Powder Day on 16-22″ Deep Snowpack Yesterday

“Itโ€™s October, but the recent storm left some pretty solid accumulations up high in the Sierras.

While lower elevations saw mostly rain, we knew that up high and along the crest weโ€™d find 1-2 feet of heavy snow, which was plenty enough to ride.

On Tuesday, 10/18/2016, Will and I headed out to the local Mammoth first-storm stash and we scored.

The conditions were a bit firmer than expected, but by noon the snow had softened up into a nice wind buff.

Here are a few shots from the day, gotta love October skiing!
