We got out to Mammoth Mountain in California at about 11 am yesterday.
It was cold and windy and sunny, and it has snowed a bit overnight.
The 14,000′ White Mountains appeared to have gotten a lot of snow…
We have been blown away by the ninja snow farming Mammoth has been doing.
They’re pulling snow off side-slopes, trucking snow in from other parts of the mountain, salting, and doing everything they can to keep the snow good and keep it in the right places.
It’s impressive.
We noticed right away that the huge jump was made smaller, and we can’t wait to hit it today.
Mammoth also has a few rails set up.
We spent the day skiing top to bottom laps, rolling around on Chair 3, and learning Chair 5.
It’s very cool that Mammoth has had so much open.
We even skied off-piste right under the gondola, and it was good.
Top-to-bottom groomers were my favorite again, although Chair 5 and Chair 3 were both skiing great.
We’ll likely be skiing park much of the coming week, and we’re fired up for sunny weather, great friends, and good times.
We hit the Good Life Cafe in town for a late breakfast, and it was damn good.
For aprรจs ski, we headed out to the Lazy River that is 101ยบF right now, and life was smooth and easy.
