Mammoth mountain opened for the 2014-15 season on Nov 13th. At the time of this
report, the snow conditions were hard packed and mainly a 14-18″ base of man
made snow with some minimal bare spots on the main runs. Overnight
temperatures were cool enough for snow making, so the snow guns were hard at work
through the night.
Day time temperatures were around 30-32 deg F and the snow surface varied from hard packed to wash board in places ( definitely early season conditions). There was only one chair (Broadway) operating with only two runs ( Broadway and Andy’s Double Gold) open off this chair. Upper mountain looked bare for most part.ย It appeared that they were trying to get the beginner chair running and the target date was the Thanksgiving week. Lift ticket prices were at about $85 per day.
Needless to say, they need plenty of snow but it was good to get out and make some turns. Pray for snow!
