Mikaela Shiffrin has returned to her home state Colorado and shared snaps of herself training on Monday, April 22. The legendary ski racer has spent the majority of the season in Europe for training and competitions but has now returned to her home. The 29-year-old Vail native recently got engaged to Norwegian ski racer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and has been spending time with him at the end of the FIS Alpine World Cup season in Salzburg, Austria, where Kilde has a home. With each of them now heading off to travel with their respective teams to either glacier resorts in Europe or southern hemisphere ski areas for summer training, it is not sure when the pair will be able to spend time together again.

Aside from training in her home resort Vail, the ski racer was also spotted in Vail at the annual Campbell Cup, signing autographs and supporting the young athletes who were raising funds for pediatric cancer. The Campbell Cup is organized each year by the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail and was created by Campbell Sullivan who was battling pediatric cancer. Sadly, Campbell Sullivan lost her fight in 2021 but her legacy lives on in the annual fund raiser for the SkiFast Foundation she founded. It is heart warming seeing Mikaela Shiffrin supporting the small local charity. Her attendance surely put a smile on many of the young athletes’ faces.
